Our Center Advised Help After the Birth

Help during this time, which can be very hectic. While in the hospital, talk to the experts around you. Many hospitals have feeding specialists or lactation consultants who can help you get started nursing or bottle-feeding. In addition, nurses are a great resource to show you how to hold, burp, change, and care for your baby.

For in-home help, you might want to hire a baby nurse or a responsible neighborhood teenager to help you for a short time a after the birth. Your doctor or the hospital can be good resources for finding information about in-home help, and might even be able to make a referral to home health agencies.

In addition, relatives and friends often want to help. Even if you disagree on certain things, don’t dismiss their experience. But if you don’t feel up to having guests or you have other concerns, don’t feel guilty about placing restrictions on visitors.

Holding

Your newborn may feel fragile and delicate to you, but don’t be afraid to touch, handle or hold your new baby. In fact, studies show that babies that are held more than 2 hours per day.

Because your newborn’s neck muscles are not yet developed, you will need to support your newborn’s head whenever you pick her up. You should also support her head against your shoulder or with your opposite hand while carrying her.

You can use a gentle cleanser formulated for babies. If your baby has more hair, you might try a gentle shampoo. Don’t be afraid to gently wash the soft spots on your baby’s head.

Products

An ideal baby product should not irritate your baby’s skin or eyes, dry out your baby’s skin or disrupt the skin’s natural barrier. Importantly, it should be effectively preserved to help maintain the quality of the product during normal use. It should be:

1- Safe, gentle, mild: Safety is a most understatement When you are dealing with skin as delicate as that of your baby. It is expected that any product the is claimed specifically as a baby product would be safe for baby skin, be mild and gentle,

However, for a product to be considered as a baby product, it must have been tested in the past and have proved negative for any allergic tendencies. In other words it must be Clinically Proven Mild.

Diaper Change

How many diapers they go through in a day. To make life easier for yourself store plenty of diapers before you bring your baby home . It’s also helpful to learn how to change your baby’s diaper ahead of time.

Comforting

Most babies cry for an average of 2 hours a day in the first 3 months. So while it may be disconcerting, it’s also normal.

To comfort your baby, first try to determine the cause of your baby’s discomfort. Is your baby hungry? Does your baby have gas? Does your baby’s diaper need changing? Is it time for a nap? Is your baby over stimulated by noise light or activity?

To help soothe a sleepy or over stimulated baby, hold your baby on your shoulder while gently rocking her. Sing or speak softly to your baby reassure her with a calm voice. It can also-help to rub your baby’s back as you do so. Try different positions to find one that’s comfortable for both of you.

The First 10 Days Can Mean So Much More
